About Our Team

We are the Kinematic Flying Chickens, a First Tech Challenge team from Southern California. Our flock of 15 came primarily from First LEGO graduates, with additional players coming onboard least year and currently.

Our rookie year (2023-24) was spent practicing at Pershing Middle School, and 3 years ago we moved to our coach's garage affectionately known as the COOP. At Pershing we had a sister team, the Encrypted Goofy Geese; for 2024-25 we merged together under one name. Since then we have had the combined knowledge and experience of both teams! We were so happy to be awarded with the Control Award during our 2025-26 Decode Season.

Team Handbook

We would like to give a special thank you to the founders of Team 14129, The Wizalos and the OGs:

Players

Yo-Yo Yang, Anrew Balka, Chloe Smith, Will Baker, Sean Carlson, Matthew Merrow, Alexios Savvides, Jeremíah Short, Aidan Connor, Jacob Showman, Isaac Miller, Roan Carpentar

Coach

Karen Miller

The OGs and Wizalos played through FTC seasons Skystone, Ultimate Goal, Freight Frenzy, and Power Play, then passed the (robotic) torch to our two rookie teams, 14129 EGG and 23696 KFC. Not only did they pass on their team number, but met regularly with our players and coaches to mentor on teamwork, engineering, project planning, and best build practices. We are so grateful and thank them all for their knowledge (and the gift of a robot and parts) to kickstart our journey into FTC. With their gifts of generosity and gracious professionalism, we are learning "how to fly!"
